Blog Networks

Why more than one blog?

If you are blogging for the fun of it and do not desire to earn income from it then having one blog is probably enough. you can even use free resources for a personal noncommercial blog and achieve the desired result.

If you are wanting to make money using blogs, a network will help you dominate search traffic for your desired keywords. I currently manage several blog networks as well as some personal blogs. I even consider HubPages as a blogging platform.

You can use different blogs to drive traffic and link love to your main sites or affiliate offers. One of the main ways to get the search engines to find your content is to have incoming links from other sites. This coupled with proper title tags and keyword density will bring you traffic for your target audience.

If I just lost you in the last paragraph do not worry I will go into detail in future Hubs on those concepts.

How does a network help?

If you have a main site that you wish to drive traffic to using a network of blogs to support this main site will produce search engine rankings for you main site as well as pull your blogs into the Search Engine Results.

One of the simplest ways to build this Search Engine recognition is to have the blogs link to each other, but never a reciprocal link.

Here is an Example:

  • Blog A links out to B and C and your main site.
  • Blog B links out to C and D and your main site.
  • Blog C links out to D and F and your main site.
  • Blog D links out to F and A and your main site.
  • Blog F links out to A and B and your main site.

What this simple example will do is create 5 incoming links to support your main site and each blog will have two incoming links for the Search Engine spiders to bounce around.

Using this simple technique will build search engine recognition for your main site and for each of the blogs. If you monetize each individual blog and your main site you can conceivably create nice income from it.
